PRINT

Kingsbury Press has the finest machinery with the capability to produce unmatched quality. This, coupled with a highly-skilled team of pre- and post-production craftsmen, ensures exacting standards are upheld throughout the artisan binding and finishing processes.

Renowned globally for our superior print quality, printing at Kingsbury Press is not just putting ink on paper. Ultra-High Definition screen rulings are used on most projects and a special colour curve and calibration is used for multiple papers to compensate for the varying whiteness that is prevalent on the many stocks used for specialist work. The presses are run to the latest 51/52 Fogra and ISO12647-2 standards. All of our presses have a dedicated Anilox coating unit for luxury sheet finish and added durability. Impress Control is fitted on the CX102 and XL 75 giving the ultimate colour control for consistency and balance.

BINDING

Kingsbury Press is the only printer in the UK to have such a wide range of binding options at its disposal, all catered for in-house. In 2012 we pioneered and launched K-Bind® the only true lay-flat binding method.

In early 2019, an investment in a 20 station Kolbus KM600 fully automated binding line was made. Complementing this, a brand new Kolbus DA260 Case-maker, Muller Martini BF513 Casing-in Machine and a Muller Martini 3215 Section Sewing machine all formed part of a major investment plan giving the company the opportunity to price more competitively and exploit new market sectors including publishing, corporate reporting and magazines. Other specialist binding techniques conducted in-house are Singer Sewing and Cold Glue Binding.

Our specilist binding services include:

— Thread/Smyth Sewing
— PUR
— Perfect Binding
— Lock Binding
— K-Bind®

— Saddle Stitching
— Automated Case Making

K-BIND®

Our unique and innovative binding method K-Bind® was born out of frustration. Printing across double page spreads was always a bugbear. Images lost their meaning, words lost their impact, maps and floor plans were rendered as good as useless. It was such a problem, that most avoided designing over the spine area altogether. Then in 2012 all that changed when we introduced our lay-flat binding method.

Finally, uninterrupted printing across pages was a practical reality, the gutter had gone and the results were truly stunning. For the first time we could produce books that opened completely flat and were as robust as a traditional section sewn brochure. Landscape images could be viewed in their full panoramic glory, floor plans didn’t have to be scaled or worse still, cut down the middle and type could now flow across the entire spread.

At last, a new era in print had begun thanks to our years of research and trials to perfect a revolutionary masterbind technique we call K-Bind®.

Since launching in 2012, demand has grown and we now have multiple K-Bind® machines. Others have tried to emulate us, but our technique remains unique and unmatched due to our special gluing application and the fact that we complete the entire production process in-house, meaning our specialist team can make sure that every book meets our exacting standards. After all, as the pioneers of this technique we want to remain the leaders in it.

FINISHING

Here at Kingsbury Press we don’t only have our unique K-Bind® and KolorEdge® processes in-house, we are proud of our impressive line-up of finishing machines and techniques.

These include foiling, embossing, debossing, die-cutting, laminating, folding, duplexing, eyeletting and case making. We also work with our trusted suppliers for screen print and spot UV applications.

The finishing process is often the most demanding and important element of any job. Our clients can rest assured that, with us having so many techniques in-house, we can closely monitor the quality throughout the entirety of any project, maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship whilst meeting challenging lead-times.

KOLOREDGE®

We are delighted to announce our new and unique finishing technique – KolorEdge®. The KolorEdge® process allows any Pantone® colour to be used on the edges of books, brochures, invites and business cards. The same machine is also able to foil gilt in an array of metallic foil colours.

This new and highly automated process allows us to do large volumes efficiently and cost effectively. We are pleased to be installing the only machine of its type in the UK, further enhancing our portfolio of unique finishing methods, giving yet further inspiration and resource to the design and marketing sector within the UK and beyond.

KolorEdge® opens up a whole new world of opportunities, it brings the plain white edges of book blocks to life, allowing a brand colour to express itself, or by using the foil gild process you can add a touch of luxury and finesse. We would love to introduce you to our KolorEdge® technique, so please do get in touch and one of our Client Partners will be happy to tell you more about it.
